#1 Keep your hands clean. When using the restroom wash your hands with HOT HOT soapy water you can even use the paper towel that is just barely damp from your hands and return to your cue and wipe the shaft down. Alot of the stain on your shaft is from the dirt and oil of your hands. #2 After the night of play always lightly wipe off the tip of the cue that has the chalk on it. This prevents the chalk from going down the sides of your case and then getting on the shaft. This will prevent alot of the staining. #3 The darker colored chalks like red, black, and blue have a pigment that seems to stain the shaf the quickest. If you are not stuck on using blue try the masters light grey you will find the shaft stays alot cleaner. Contrary to what people say about the consistency being not the same we have discussed that issue with masters chalk and they assured us all the colors are made of the same materials just different colors. If your cue is already stained and you would like to clean the shaft there are products like "Undo the Blue Shaft Cleaner" to help clean without having to sand away some of the wood. You just put a little powder on a damp cloth and wipe down the shaft. This cleaner does not have any bleach in it so do not worry about that. After you have cleaned the shaft you want to condition it with a product like the QKY. |
